Minimum Requirements

Key Responsibilities

The Front of House Manager will be responsible for a range of duties, including:

  • Maintaining a database of all potential temporary Front of House (FOH) employees.
  • Recruiting and training new FOH staff.
  • Reviewing existing staff compliment against the demand of current and future productions/events.
  • Obtaining master schedules and developing FOH rosters for forthcoming productions.
  • Briefing the FOH team continuously on productions.
  • Providing ongoing management, counselling, and support to FOH staff.
  • Ensuring that patron services during productions run smoothly.
  • Managing requests for appropriate ushers for special events.
  • Announcing timeous warnings of commencement of shows.
  • Making announcements to audiences on house rules and theatre etiquette.
  • Monitoring the performance of Front of House staff and ensuring all duties are executed.
  • Preparing FOH reports relating to house counts, lost & found, patron feedback, and related issues.
  • Reconciling costs per production.
  • Ensuring the safety of patrons and staff through proper implementation and enforcement of emergency procedures.
  • Ensuring controlled emergency evacuation of patrons and drilling FOH staff in correct procedures.
  • Ensuring FOH staff are trained in first aid and Public Relations.
  • Overseeing bars, marketing materials, and interacting with Cleaning and Security Staff during performances.

As the Front of House Manager at the Artscape Theatre Centre in Cape Town, you will report directly to the Theatre Manager.
