Minimum Requirements

Candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • Hold a Diploma or Degree in Human Resources Management, Industrial Psychology, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Be a recent graduate or currently completing their final year of studies.
  • No prior work experience is required.
  • Possess strong administrative and organisational skills.
  • Demonstrate good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Be proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Exhibit attention to detail and the ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Capable of working under pressure and managing multiple tasks effectively.
  • Maintain a professional attitude and a willingness to learn.
  • Show strong interpersonal and teamwork skills.

Key Responsibilities

The HR Intern will be involved in a range of duties, including:

  • Recruitment & Onboarding: Assisting with posting vacancies, screening CVs, scheduling interviews, coordinating candidate communication, preparing onboarding documentation, and supporting induction processes.
  • HR Administration: Maintaining accurate employee records and HR databases, filing HR documentation, preparing employment contracts, letters, and correspondence, and assisting with leave administration and attendance tracking.
  • Payroll & Employee Support: Supporting payroll preparation by collecting and verifying employee information, assisting employees with HR-related queries, and ensuring the confidentiality of employee information.
  • Training & Development: Coordinating training sessions, maintaining training records, tracking mandatory compliance training, and supporting employee wellness and engagement initiatives.
  • Compliance & Reporting: Assisting with maintaining compliance with labour legislation and company policies, supporting Employment Equity and BBBEE administrative requirements, compiling basic HR reports, and promoting adherence to company Health & Safety standards.
  • General Support: Providing administrative support to the HR team as required, participating in HR projects and process improvement initiatives, and upholding ALS core values and professional standards.
