Opportunity Overview

The Wholesale & Retail SETA funds a New Venture Creation learnership in Mthatha, equipping aspiring entrepreneurs in the Eastern Cape with the skills to start and run small retail businesses.

This learnership is based in Mthatha, Eastern Cape (Eastern Cape) and falls under the W&RSETA — Wholesale & Retail, leading to a NQF Level 4 qualification. A monthly stipend is provided: R4 000 – R4 500 / month.

Minimum Requirements

• Minimum qualification: Grade 12 / Matric
• South African citizen with a valid ID
• Aged 18–35 (youth programme)
• Currently unemployed and not on another funded programme
• Clear criminal record

Key Responsibilities

During this learnership you will:

• Developing a viable business plan for a small enterprise
• Learning basic bookkeeping, costing and pricing
• Understanding stock sourcing, marketing and customer service
• Applying compliance basics (registration, tax, permits)
• Completing NQF 4 New Venture Creation assessments

Stipend & Benefits

Successful candidates receive a monthly stipend of R4 000 – R4 500 / month for the duration of the programme, on-the-job mentorship, and a nationally recognised NQF Level 4 qualification on successful completion.
