Opportunity Overview

Vodacom offers a MICT SETA-accredited software development learnership at its Midrand campus, training youth in modern web and mobile development for one of Africa’s largest telecoms.

This learnership is based in Midrand, Gauteng (Gauteng) and falls under the MICT SETA — Media, Information & Communication Technologies, leading to a NQF Level 5 qualification. A monthly stipend is provided: R7 000 – R9 000 / month.

Minimum Requirements

• Minimum qualification: Grade 12 / Matric
• South African citizen with a valid ID
• Aged 18–35 (youth programme)
• Currently unemployed and not on another funded programme
• Clear criminal record
• Grade 12 with Mathematics (60%+)
• Strong logical reasoning; portfolio advantageous

Key Responsibilities

During this learnership you will:

• Learning programming fundamentals (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, SQL)
• Building small applications under developer mentorship
• Participating in agile ceremonies and code reviews
• Writing and running basic tests
• Completing NQF 5 systems development assessments

Stipend & Benefits

Successful candidates receive a monthly stipend of R7 000 – R9 000 / month for the duration of the programme, on-the-job mentorship, and a nationally recognised NQF Level 5 qualification on successful completion.
