Opportunity Overview

Umngeni-uthukela Water was established on 01 July 2023 through the reconfiguration of Mhlathuze Water and Umgeni Water. As a National Government Business Enterprise, its core mission is to provide bulk water and related services to water services institutions and customers throughout the Kwa-Zulu Natal province. The entity operates in accordance with the Water Services Act and the Public Finance Management Act.

This opportunity is for an Assistant Financial Planner, reporting to the Manager - Financial Planning. The purpose of this role is to provide essential support in the organisation's financial planning and budgeting processes. This includes tasks such as data gathering, financial analysis, the preparation of reports, and various administrative duties.

The Assistant Financial Planner will play a key role in ensuring that financial inputs are accurate and timely, which is crucial for supporting informed decision-making and maintaining compliance with all relevant financial regulations.

Minimum Requirements

  • Qualifications:
  • B Comm (NQF Level 7) with majors in Accounting, Cost Accounting, and Managerial Finance.
  • Desirable: Postgraduate Diploma in Financial Planning and Analysis.
  • Experience:
  • 3 years in Cost Accounting and Managerial Finance.
  • Technical and Functional Competencies:
  • Knowledge of the PFMA and Water Services Act to ensure financial proposals comply with applicable legislation.
  • Ability to produce financial models and demonstrate strong attention to detail.
  • Proficient computer technical skills, preferably with SAP.
  • Knowledge of Budgeting and Forecasting techniques.
  • Knowledge of Costing and Managerial Finance.
