UBS invites ambitious graduates and students to kickstart their careers through a 12-month Off-Cycle Internship with the Global Markets Distribution team in Johannesburg, South Africa. From day one, you will be deeply immersed in the business, learning directly from industry professionals. You will be assigned mentors to guide your development and help you navigate the organisation, with regular feedback sessions ensuring continuous progress. Minimum Requirements

Candidates interested in this internship should meet the following criteria:

  • Currently in their final year of study, or a recent graduate within one year of starting the internship, holding an Honours or Masters degree in STEM fields, Finance, or Economics.
  • Demonstrates strong academic performance in their degree.
  • Can provide evidence of how the experimental and responsible use of AI can improve outcomes and efficiency.
  • Shows a genuine interest in financial markets and client-facing roles.
  • Possesses excellent analytical and numerical skills.
  • Exhibits strong communication abilities, both written and verbal.
  • Has a proactive attitude and eagerness to learn.
  • Works well in team environments and shows the ability to build relationships.
  • Has a commercial mindset and client-centric approach.
  • Knowledge of South African financial markets would be an advantage.

Key Responsibilities

As an Off-Cycle Intern, you will be involved in various crucial activities, including:

  • Shadowing experienced sales and trading professionals as they advise clients on market trends, investment opportunities, and execution strategies.
  • Supporting the team in creating compelling presentations and market updates.
  • Learning to analyse market data and translate it into actionable insights for clients.
