Opportunity Overview

Transnet is offering an 18-month Work Integrated Learning (WIL) Trainee Programme designed to provide students and recent graduates with essential practical workplace experience. Minimum Requirements

To be considered for this opportunity, applicants must meet the following criteria:

• South African citizen.
• Age between 18 and 35 years.
• Possess a Matric certificate or equivalent.
• Have completed all theoretical subjects for N4 – N6 in Office Management, Management Assistant, or Business Administration.
• Have no existing bursary obligation with another company.
• Be willing to learn and work well within a team.
• Demonstrate good written and communication skills.
• Possess basic computer skills.
• Exhibit problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Key Responsibilities

As a Work Integrated Non-Technical Learner, your duties will include:

• Assisting with specific projects within a department or work-stream.
• Performing routine operational tasks under supervision.
• Supporting administrative functions, including documentation and reporting.
• Participating in training sessions, workshops, and mentorship programmes.
• Shadowing experienced professionals to gain practical insights.
• Engaging in problem-solving activities to develop analytical skills.
• Interacting with customers, suppliers, and internal teams to understand business needs.
• Providing regular updates on assigned tasks and project progress.
• Serving as a central contact point for queries and assistance.
• Conducting market research, data collection, and analysis to support business decisions.
• Preparing reports and presentations using MS Office tools.
• Assisting in process improvement initiatives.
• Following company policies, procedures, and safety regulations.
• Ensuring adherence to ethical and professional standards.
• Maintaining confidentiality and integrity in all tasks.

What the Work Involves

This programme involves working alongside experienced professionals in various Transnet Corporate Centre departments, under the supervision of a Specialist: Youth Development. You will contribute to administrative functions, handling documentation, reporting, and data analysis crucial for business decisions.

Day-to-day tasks will involve assisting with ongoing projects, preparing reports and presentations using standard office tools, and communicating with internal and external stakeholders. You will participate in structured training and mentorship, developing practical skills in an environment that prioritises ethical conduct and adherence to company procedures. The opportunities are available in Johannesburg, Pretoria, Durban, and Cape Town.
