Opportunity Overview

Transnet, the state-owned freight and logistics operator, offers a TETA-accredited freight-handling learnership at the Port of Richards Bay, the busiest bulk port on the continent.

This learnership is based in Richards Bay, KwaZulu-Natal (KwaZulu-Natal) and falls under the TETA — Transport, leading to a NQF Level 4 qualification. A monthly stipend is provided: R6 000 – R7 000 / month.

Minimum Requirements

• Minimum qualification: Grade 12 / Matric
• South African citizen with a valid ID
• Aged 18–35 (youth programme)
• Currently unemployed and not on another funded programme
• Clear criminal record

Key Responsibilities

During this learnership you will:

• Learning port and rail freight-handling operations
• Supporting cargo documentation and tracking
• Applying occupational health-and-safety standards in a port environment
• Assisting with warehouse and yard stock movements
• Completing NQF 4 freight-handling assessments

Stipend & Benefits

Successful candidates receive a monthly stipend of R6 000 – R7 000 / month for the duration of the programme, on-the-job mentorship, and a nationally recognised NQF Level 4 qualification on successful completion.
