Opportunity Overview

The State Information Technology Agency (SITA) is looking for a Consultant to provide Functional Application Support for the IFASS DOD system. This is a permanent position located at the Naval Base Simons Town in the Western Cape.

This role is essential for delivering Functional Application Support services to clients, ensuring that application systems align with specified service level agreements. It offers an opportunity to contribute to the operation and maintenance of critical technology within a government environment.

Minimum Requirements

  • Education:
  • A 3-year National Diploma or Degree in an ICT-related field, or an equivalent qualification at NQF Level 6.
  • Alternatively, candidates with a Grade 12 certificate who have 7 to 8 years of Functional Application Support experience on specific DOD Logistic, HR, FIN, or HI applications may apply.
  • Experience:
  • 7 to 8 years of Functional Application Support experience on specific DOD Logistic, HR, FIN, or HI applications.
  • 3 to 4 years of experience in a managerial or supervisory role.
  • Technical Knowledge:
  • Thorough understanding of the business aspects of applications and the technical aspects of application systems, including their hardware and software environment.
  • Knowledge of the organisation’s policy framework, management structures, and reporting procedures for the Functional Application Support environment.
  • Thorough knowledge of product and solution development, systems integration, user and functional system testing, government strategies, intergovernmental relations, and entity relationship diagrams.
  • Experience working on projects and communicating with users on technical issues.
  • Strong problem-solving ability to resolve application problems quickly and cost-effectively, and to work under pressure.
  • Understanding of the relationship between time, quality, and cost of work, and the ability to manage this relationship.
  • Ability to communicate the time/quality/cost relationship to clients and subordinates, and to estimate jobs.
  • Understanding of software configuration management.
  • Skills:

  • Special Requirements: Preference will be given to Coloured candidates.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure a financially stable environment.
  • Provide business advisory services.
  • Oversee and deliver functional application support services.
  • Implement functional system enhancements and changes in accordance with client requests.
  • Provide integrated management information support solutions to clients and management.
  • Pro-actively manage risks that may affect SITA’s performance and delivery to clients.
