Standard Bank, the largest bank in Africa by assets, is running its flagship 12-month Banking Learnership for unemployed youth in Gauteng. The programme blends a BANKSETA-accredited NQF 5 qualification with rotational placements across retail branches and contact centres.

This learnership is based in Sandton, Gauteng (Gauteng) and falls under the BANKSETA — Banking, leading to a NQF Level 5 qualification. A monthly stipend is provided: R6 000 – R6 500 / month.

Minimum Requirements

• Minimum qualification: Grade 12 / Matric
• South African citizen with a valid ID
• Aged 18–35 (youth programme)
• Currently unemployed and not on another funded programme
• Clear criminal record

Key Responsibilities

During this learnership you will:

• Completing the NQF 5 Banking qualification modules under workplace mentorship
• Delivering front-line customer service in a branch or digital channel
• Processing deposits, withdrawals and account queries accurately and within compliance rules
• Supporting FICA/RICA documentation and KYC verification
• Participating in weekly facilitated learning sessions and formative assessments

Stipend & Benefits

Successful candidates receive a monthly stipend of R6 000 – R6 500 / month for the duration of the programme, on-the-job mentorship, and a nationally recognised NQF Level 5 qualification on successful completion.
