Opportunity Overview

The Special Investigating Unit (SIU) is an independent statutory body, established under the Public Finance Management Act (PFMA) as a Schedule 3A entity. Its core mission involves investigating allegations of corruption, malpractice, and maladministration within government departments, municipalities, and State-Owned Entities, with a focus on recovering financial losses incurred by these State institutions.

The SIU invites suitably qualified and experienced individuals to apply for a permanent Project Manager position in Polokwane. This is an opportunity to join a dynamic team dedicated to fighting corruption and recovering financial losses for the State.

Minimum Requirements

• A B Degree in Accounting, Legal, IT, Computer Science, Business Management, or a relevant qualification (NQF Level 7).
• Project Management Certification.
• Five years of project management experience, of which two years must be at a management or supervisory level.
• Experience in the public sector and/or forensic investigations will be considered advantageous.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the delivery of projects during provincial investigations into maladministration and corruption.
• Conduct Project Planning for Provincial Projects or Selected Focus Areas within complex provincial, strategic, or national projects.
• Perform Project Executions for Provincial Projects or Selected Focus Areas within complex provincial, strategic, or national projects.
• Refer matters for remedial action.
• Conduct Project Close-Out Activities.
• Provide Operational Support.
• Be responsible for budgeting and reporting on the project.
• Establish project deadlines.
• Monitor the progress of projects and conduct performance evaluations.
• Record and verify provincial performance information.

What the Work Involves

As a Project Manager, you will be instrumental in overseeing the delivery of investigation projects across various provincial State institutions. Your day-to-day work will involve meticulous planning, execution, and monitoring of these projects, ensuring they align with predetermined standards and support the SIU's multi-disciplinary approach to investigations. You will manage project budgets, establish critical deadlines, track progress, and evaluate performance, ultimately ensuring that matters requiring remedial action are appropriately referred. This role requires a focus on operational support and accurate record-keeping of provincial performance information within an investigation environment.
