Opportunity Overview

This permanent vacancy is for a General Manager: Solutions Development, based at SASSA Head Office. It offers a significant opportunity to lead strategic initiatives in information and communication technology.

Minimum Requirements

  • An NQF Level 7 qualification in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or an equivalent field, as recognised by SAQA.
  • A Certificate for entry into the Senior Management Service (SMS), endorsed by the National School of Government.
  • Successful completion of the SMS Pre-entry programme (Nyukela), endorsed by the National School of Government, is required before appointment.
  • 5 years of relevant experience at a senior managerial level.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and skills in: Functional / Professional Knowledge, Planning & Organising, Innovation / Creativity, Computer Literacy, Policy Analysis and Development, Strategic Capability and Leadership, People Management and Empowerment, Programme and Project Management, Financial Management, Change Management, and Service Delivery Innovation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee Strategic ICT Governance, Delivery Enablement, and Stakeholder Engagement.
  • Manage the Application Portfolio and the Solutions Development Lifecycle (SDLC).
  • Ensure Systems Integration and verify compliance and alignment with Enterprise Architecture Implementation.
  • Drive Digital Transformation, Innovation, and e-Government Enablement.
  • Oversee ICT Application deployment and Organisational Enablement.
  • Ensure effective Applications Support and Operations.
  • Provide leadership and manage resources within the Department.

  • Oversee Grants Administration and Service Delivery operations in the District.
  • Manage Administrative Support Services effectively.
  • Manage, implement, and maintain beneficiary records and systems.
  • Manage staff and resources efficiently within the District.
