Opportunity Overview

The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) is inviting applications for five independent and suitably qualified individuals to serve as members of its Head Office Audit Committee in Pretoria. SASSA is a dynamic organisation responsible for providing essential services to a diverse group of South Africans.

These critical roles involve advising and overseeing the Accounting Authority, playing a vital part in strengthening governance, risk management, internal controls, and financial management within the Agency.

Members of the Audit Committee will also contribute significantly to performance reporting, ICT governance, cybersecurity oversight, compliance, and overall accountability within SASSA.

Minimum Requirements

• Applicants must possess a recognised Honours Degree (NQF Level 8) in Accounting, Auditing, Risk Management, Information and Communications Technology, Cybersecurity, Information Security, Strategic Management, Monitoring and Evaluation, Public Administration, Finance, Law, Human Resources Management, Performance Management, or a related field.
• A minimum of ten (10) years' experience is required at a senior management, executive, governance, oversight, board, assurance, or advisory level in one or more of the following disciplines:
• Accounting and Financial Management
• Internal and/or External Auditing
• Risk Management and Governance
• Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Governance
• Cybersecurity and Information Security
• Enterprise Architecture and Digital Transformation
• Data Governance and Information Management
• Strategic Management and Organisational Performance
• Monitoring and Evaluation
• Human Resources Governance
• Public Sector Governance and Compliance
• Applicants must not be employees of the State, a Public Entity, or any institution that may create an actual or perceived conflict of interest.

Key Responsibilities

• Serve as an independent advisory and oversight structure to the Accounting Authority.
• Strengthen governance, risk management, internal controls, and financial management within SASSA.
• Oversee performance reporting, ICT governance, and cybersecurity.
• Ensure compliance and accountability within the Agency.
