Opportunity Overview
The Social Housing Regulatory Authority (SHRA) invites nominations for persons to serve as members of the Ministerial Advisory Panel (MAP). This panel plays a crucial role in advising the Minister of Human Settlements on important matters relating to human settlements development across South Africa.
This is an opportunity for experienced and qualified individuals to contribute to national housing policy and strategy. Appointed members will serve on the panel for a period of three years and will be required to sign a contract with the Department of Human Settlements. Members will be remunerated according to approved departmental rates.
Minimum Requirements
Nominees must possess knowledge, qualifications, or experience in the field of human settlements development, with competencies clearly reflected in their curriculum vitae.
- Qualifications (NQF Level 7 or above, recognised by SAQA):
- Built Environment (such as Town/Urban and Regional Planning, Construction Management, Housing, Project Management, Civil Engineering)
- Public Administration/Public Management
- Developmental Studies (specialising or majoring)
- Knowledge and Skills (Competencies):
- Theoretical and/or practical knowledge in human settlements policy development.
- Extensive knowledge in human settlements financing.
- Engineering and/or Town and Regional Planning skills.
- Specialised Infrastructure Finance (including Public-Private Partnerships (PPPs), Social Housing Funding, Subsidy Management).
- Mobilisation and organisational skills.
- Understanding of legal and governance frameworks.
Appointed candidates will undergo a vetting and screening process. The panel will consist of not more than six members.
Key Responsibilities
As a member of the Ministerial Advisory Panel, you will:
- Serve as an appointed member of the Ministerial Advisory Panel.
- Advise the Minister on matters relating to Human Settlements development.
- Sign a three-year contract with the Department of Human Settlements.
