Opportunity Overview

Sasol runs a CHIETA-accredited process operations learnership at its Secunda synfuels complex, training matriculants with maths and science toward an NQF 3 process plant operations qualification.

This learnership is based in Secunda, Mpumalanga (Mpumalanga) and falls under the CHIETA — Chemical Industries, leading to a NQF Level 3 qualification. A monthly stipend is provided: R6 500 – R7 500 / month.

Minimum Requirements

• Minimum qualification: Grade 12 / Matric
• South African citizen with a valid ID
• Aged 18–35 (youth programme)
• Currently unemployed and not on another funded programme
• Clear criminal record
• Grade 12 with Mathematics and Physical Science (50%+)
• Medically fit for plant environment

Key Responsibilities

During this learnership you will:

• Learning safe operation of chemical process units and utilities
• Monitoring plant parameters and recording readings accurately
• Conducting routine inspections and basic sampling
• Applying Sasol’s "Zero Harm" safety, health and environment standards
• Completing theory and workplace assessments toward NQF 3

Stipend & Benefits

Successful candidates receive a monthly stipend of R6 500 – R7 500 / month for the duration of the programme, on-the-job mentorship, and a nationally recognised NQF Level 3 qualification on successful completion.
