As an Airfreight Manager, you will play a crucial part in overseeing the movement of airfreight cargo and managing a dedicated team. If you have a strong background in airfreight operations and leadership, this role offers a chance to apply your expertise in a challenging and rewarding setting.

Minimum Requirements

  • Education:
  • Grade 12 Certificate
  • A 3-year freight forwarding related qualification at NQF level 6
  • Experience:
  • 7 years of operational airfreight experience within the Freight Forwarding Industry
  • At least 3 years of this experience must have been in a supervisory capacity
  • Knowledge:
  • INCO Terms and basic international trade principles
  • Transport modal selection and carrier conditions of carriage
  • Commercial, transport, and statutory body documents
  • Product-specific freight handling and movement requirements
  • Applicable sections of the Import & Export Control Act
  • Tariff calculation concepts, national currencies, and international codes
  • Basic customs and statutory body cargo clearance procedures
  • Freight forwarding and clearing document flow procedures
  • Computer literacy (Ms Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Experience with Shipshape or a relevant operating system
  • Skills:
  • Problem-solving and results-driven
  • Client-centric approach and strong communication (verbal and written)
  • Financial acumen and administration skills
  • Planning, organising, and time management

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and oversee the movement of airfreight cargo.
  • Manage and supervise the Imports Team and Estimators.
  • Process creditors disbursements and debtors invoices.
  • Handle import sales and servicing activities.
  • Oversee the Airfreight Department, including drawing, degrouping, and drivers.
  • Manage financial aspects related to the department.
  • Ensure compliance with quality management system requirements.
  • Perform ad-hoc duties as required.

Minimum Requirements

  • Education:
  • Grade 12 Certificate
  • A 1-year customs related qualification (SDS Customs clearing Part 1 and Part 2)
  • Experience:
  • 5 years of import/customs experience within the Clearing and Forwarding Industry
  • Minimum 3–5 years’ experience in APDP claims preparation and/or PRCC applications
  • Knowledge:
  • Strong knowledge of South African Customs regulations (SARS, ITAC, NRCS, DTIC frameworks)
  • Basic international trade principles and INCO Terms
  • Applicable knowledge of the Customs and Excise Act
  • Principles of Duty calculation
  • Strong knowledge of Customs external policy on refunds, drawbacks, and provisional payments
  • Knowledge of tariffing, national currencies, and international codes
  • Commercial, transport, carrier & depot, and statutory body documents
  • Computer literacy (MS Office, Shipshape)
  • Skills:
  • Comprehensive reading and writing skills
  • Good communication skills
