Opportunity Overview
Postbank is seeking a dedicated Specialist Architect to join its Information Technology (IT) Business Unit at its Head Office in Pretoria. This is a permanent position designed for individuals passionate about shaping the technological future of a key financial institution.
As a Specialist Architect, you will be instrumental in designing, governing, and evolving Postbank's IT architecture landscape. Your role is vital in ensuring that IT capabilities are perfectly aligned with business strategies, guiding technology choices, system integrations, and long-term planning to support an agile, scalable, and secure environment.
Minimum Requirements
To be considered for this position, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Qualification:
- Bachelor’s degree (NQF Level 7) in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- TOGAF, SABSA, or other architecture framework certifications.
- Experience:
- Minimum 8 years of experience in IT.
- Minimum 5 years of experience as a Solution or Specialist Architect.
- Minimum 5 years of experience with AWS, AZURE, and on-premise implementation & support.
- Minimum 3 years of experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Google & Azure).
- Minimum 3 years of experience in banking or financial services.
- Skills:
- Enterprise and solution architecture expertise.
- Systems design and integration.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of cloud platforms and modern technologies.
- IT governance, risk, and compliance knowledge.
- Architecture modelling and documentation.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.

Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Defining, maintaining, and evolving the enterprise architecture framework, standards, and roadmaps.
- Collaborating with business units and IT teams to translate business strategy into IT solutions.
- Leading the design and documentation of current state (as-is) and future state (to-be) architecture.
- Providing architectural oversight across all IT projects, ensuring alignment with enterprise standards.
- Identifying and evaluating emerging technologies, tools, and frameworks to drive innovation.
- Overseeing solution design reviews, impact assessments, and technology evaluations.
- Defining integration strategies across systems, including cloud and on-premise environments.
- Supporting procurement and RFP processes with technical input and architectural guidance.
- Working closely with infrastructure, data, application, and security teams to ensure cohesion and compliance.
- Contributing to governance forums, architectural reviews, and change advisory boards.
