Opportunity Overview
The National Home Builders Registration Council (NHBRC) is seeking an experienced Chief Executive Officer to lead the organisation. This pivotal role involves overall strategic and operational responsibility for the direction and performance of the NHBRC.
The position is offered on a five-year fixed-term contract. The successful candidate will report directly to the Council of the NHBRC and will be based in Sunninghill.
Minimum Requirements
- Honours degree or an equivalent NQF level 8 qualification in Engineering (or related technical disciplines), Law, Business Management/Administration, or Finance.
- A Master’s Degree or an equivalent NQF level 9 qualification in the above-mentioned fields is an added advantage.
- A minimum of 8 years' operational experience at an executive level.
- At least 3 years of the executive-level experience must be within government or a state-owned entity.
- Proven strong leadership and management capabilities.
- An understanding of the management of an extensive financial portfolio.
- The capability to grasp highly technical information within the built environment.
- An understanding of the prescripts detailed in the PFMA and best-in-practice corporate governance literature.
- Demonstrated proficiency to deal effectively with a broad spectrum of stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Take overall strategic and operational responsibility for the direction and performance of the NHBRC.
- Lead and guide the development and implementation of organisational strategy and plans in line with NHBRC strategic objectives.
- Work closely with the NHBRC Council and EXCO to translate broad strategic direction into measurable outcomes.
- Provide effective, efficient, and dynamic leadership to manage the NHBRC, in line with its legislative mandate, ensuring sound financial management and excellent corporate governance.
- Sustain and improve existing goodwill with the Department of Human Settlements and other stakeholders.
- Identify and implement strategic projects/programmes to enhance contribution to the social and economic development of marginalized groups.
- Oversee the development and implementation of effective and efficient enterprise-wide risk-mitigation, governance, and management processes.
- Implement risk intelligence processes with the Chief Risk Officer, Executives, and the Risk Management Committee, along with other governance structures.
- Facilitate organisational transformation and process optimization.
- Promote conditions for continuous improvement and a healthy learning organisational culture.
- Promote good governance and high standards of ethics to ensure a good reputation.
