Minimum Requirements

To be considered for this Shift Lead position, applicants must meet the following criteria:

• Hold a Matric certificate (Grade 12).
• Have at least 2-3 years of proven experience in restaurant management.
• Possess experience using Microsoft Office applications.
• Demonstrate strong attention to detail and accuracy in their work.
• Have the ability to effectively manage and lead a group of people.
• Exhibit excellent communication skills.
• Possess excellent knowledge of restaurant operations.
• Applicants with more than 3 years of restaurant management experience are preferred.

Key Responsibilities

The Shift Lead will be responsible for a range of duties that ensure the smooth and successful operation of the Nando's restaurant, including:

• Financial Management:
• Ensuring correct and effective daily financial administration according to Nando’s policies.
• Assisting in controlling expenditure and achieving gross profit margins through stock control and waste management.
• Aiding in corrective actions to improve business performance indicators like sales, gross profit, and customer count.
• Monitoring daily performance against set targets for turnover, ticket average, and customer count.
• Operational Management:
• Ensuring efficient daily stock control management.
• Performing daily compliance checks related to Health & Safety, maintenance, cleaning, and hygiene.
• Assisting in developing and facilitating corrective action plans to improve audit results.
• Communicating and ensuring adherence to Nando’s operational standards.
• People Management:
• Assisting with weekly rostering to ensure adequate staff capacity.
• Ensuring adherence to opening and closing procedures.
• Supporting recruitment, induction, and training of new staff.
• Completing and checking the attendance register.
• Assisting the Restaurant Manager with disciplinary code adherence, performance feedback, and staff training sign-offs.
• Marketing Management:
• Assisting with the communication and execution of marketing campaigns and initiatives.
• Responding to customer complaints in line with Nando’s policies.
• Helping to develop corrective action plans based on mystery shopper reports.
• Assisting with the execution of local marketing plans to boost sales.
• Fulfilling the Restaurant Manager’s responsibilities in their absence.
