Opportunity Overview

The Limpopo Provincial Legislature (LPL) invites applications and nominations for the position of Commissioner for the Public Service Commission (PSC) in Limpopo Province. This re-advertisement presents an opportunity for fit and proper South African Citizens with relevant knowledge or experience in Administration/Management within Organs of State.

The Public Service Commission is an independent Constitutional institution mandated to perform its functions without fear, favour, or prejudice. Its core purpose is to maintain effective and efficient Public Administration and uphold a high standard of professional ethics across the Public Service. This is a five-year contract position, which is renewable for one additional term.

Minimum Requirements

Applicants and nominees must meet the following criteria:

  • Be a South African Citizen.
  • Possess a minimum NQF Level 8 qualification or equivalent, recognised by SAQA, in fields such as Public Administration, Business Administration, Human Resources, Human Behavioural Sciences, Finance, Social Science, Science, Law, or a related field.
  • Have a minimum of eight (8) years' Senior Management work experience, or cumulative senior management experience, in a relevant field aligned with the Public Service Commission Mandate.
  • Have no criminal record and not have been previously charged with misconduct in the Public Service or any prior employment.
  • Demonstrate a high level of integrity, reliability, professionalism, and ethical leadership.
  • Maintain a reputation beyond reproach and not have been convicted of any offence resulting in a sentence of more than 12 months imprisonment without the option of a fine.
  • Hold a valid driving license, Code B minimum.
  • Not hold office in any political party or organisation.
  • Not perform or engage in any remunerative work outside the duties of this office without the consent of the President of the Republic of South Africa.

Key Responsibilities

In terms of the Constitution, the main functions of the Public Service Commission include:

  • Promoting Constitutional Values and Principles governing Public Administration throughout the Public Service.
  • Giving directions to ensure that personnel practices comply with Constitutional values and principles, and evaluating such compliance.
  • Investigating, monitoring, and evaluating the organisation, administration, and personnel practices in the Public Service, as well as adherence to applicable procedures.
  • Investigating grievances of Public Service employees.
  • Advising National and Provincial Organs of State regarding personnel practices in the Public Service.
