Minimum Requirements

Applicants must meet the following criteria for consideration:

• General Requirements (for both Grade 1 and Grade 2):
• Senior Certificate or an equivalent qualification.
• Degree or Diploma in General Nursing, or an equivalent qualification that permits registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Professional Nurse.
• One (1) year post-basic qualification in Theatre nursing.
• Current registration with the South African Nursing Council as a Professional Nurse.

• Specific Requirements for Grade 1:
• A minimum of four (4) years of appropriate or recognisable experience in nursing after registration as a Professional Nurse with the SANC in General Nursing.
• Plus one year post-basic qualification in Operating Theatre Nursing.

• Specific Requirements for Grade 2:
• A minimum of four (4) years of appropriate or recognisable experience in nursing after registration as a Professional Nurse with the SANC in General Nursing.
• At least ten (10) years of the aforementioned period must be appropriate/recognisable experience in a speciality after obtaining a one-year post-basic qualification in the relevant speciality.
