Opportunity Overview

Joburg City Theatres (JCT), a municipal entity of the City of Johannesburg Metropolitan Municipality, is inviting applications from unemployed youth residing within the City of Johannesburg for a CATHSSETA-funded Learnership Programme.

This learnership offers a unique opportunity to gain both theoretical knowledge and practical workplace experience within the hospitality industry. It is designed to equip participants with valuable skills for a career in this sector.

The programme will run for a duration of 12 months on a contract basis.

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must meet the following criteria:

• Be a South African citizen.
• Be between 18 and 35 years of age.
• Be an unemployed youth residing within the City of Johannesburg.
• Have successfully completed Grade 12 (Matric) or an equivalent NQF Level 4 qualification.
• Have English as a subject in Grade 12, demonstrating the ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
• Be passionate about pursuing a career in the hospitality and culinary industry.
• Be willing and able to attend both classroom training and workplace practical training for the full duration of the programme.
• Not be registered on another learnership, internship, or funded skills programme during the period of this learnership.
• Possess good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Be reliable, committed, and willing to learn.

Key Responsibilities

Successful candidates will be expected to:

• Actively participate in classroom-based theoretical training sessions.
• Engage in practical workplace experience within the hospitality industry.
• Commit fully to all learning components throughout the 12-month programme duration.
