Opportunity Overview
The Financial Intelligence Centre (FIC) invites suitably qualified South Africans to apply for a Graduate opportunity within its State Forensic Capability unit. This is a 12-month fixed-term contract position based in Centurion.
This graduate role offers an excellent opportunity to gain practical experience and contribute to the FIC's vital mandate. You will be instrumental in supporting criminal investigations, aiding in the recovery of proceeds from crime, and assisting in criminal prosecutions by preparing forensic reports and affidavits.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Hold an Honours degree in one of the following fields:
- Accountancy
- Forensic Accountancy
- Law enforcement/forensic investigations
- Intelligence
- Fraud and Risk Management
- Business Mathematics and Informatics
- Possess strong report writing skills.
- Be computer literate, with proficiency in MS Office (especially MS Excel and MS PowerPoint). Experience with SAS is an advantage.
- Have a valid driver’s licence.
- Demonstrate a good command of English.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be involved in various tasks, including:
- Assisting in the production of affidavits and forensic reports to support the FIC mandate, including court-directed reports.
- Conducting searches and assisting in the collection and consolidation of required information and data.
- Accurately executing all allocated matters and adhering to investigation plans and timelines.
- Preparing written products that are coherent, grammatically correct, and professional.
- Applying understanding of accounting concepts, forensic accounting concepts, criminal law, criminal procedure law, and law of evidence.
- Utilising basic internet search engines to conduct focused searches.
- Completing and submitting analysis/profiling and status reports accurately and in a timely manner.
- Complying with all organisational policies and procedures.
