Opportunity Overview

The Department of Employment And Labour is seeking to appoint two dedicated Team Leaders for its Labour Centres in Pietermaritzburg and Dundee. These roles are critical for ensuring compliance with South African labour legislation across various sectors.

As a Team Leader, you will play a vital part in overseeing and conducting inspections, investigations, and advocacy campaigns to uphold labour laws. This opportunity allows you to contribute to fair labour practices and support the Department's mandate.

Minimum Requirements

To be considered for this position, applicants must meet the following criteria:

• Matriculation/Grade 12 certificate.
• A three-year tertiary qualification in Labour Relations or an LLB degree.
• Two years of functional experience within Inspection and Enforcement Services.
• A valid motor vehicle driving license.
• Knowledge of: Departmental policies and procedures, Skills Development Act, Labour Relation Act, Basic Conditions of Employment Act, Skills Development Levies Act, Occupational Health and Safety Act, COIDA, NMWA, SABS Codes, Unemployment Insurance Act, UI Contribution Act, Employment Equity Act, and Immigration Act.
• Skills in: Facilitation, Planning and Organizing, Computer literacy, Interpersonal relations, Conflict handling, Negotiation, Problem Solving, Interviewing, Presentation, Innovation, Analytical thinking, and strong Verbal and written communication.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidates will be responsible for a range of duties, including:

• Planning and independently conducting substantive inspections to ensure compliance with labour legislations such as BCEA, LRA, EEA, UIA, COIDA, OHS, and UCA.
• Planning and executing investigations on reported cases of labour legislation contravention, enforcing compliance, and preparing for and appearing in court as a state witness.
• Planning and conducting proactive (Blitz) inspections regularly to monitor compliance and compiling comprehensive reports.
• Planning and conducting advocacy campaigns on all labour legislation, analysing their impact, and consolidating reports.
• Managing the finalisation of case files and investigations conducted by inspectors.
• Contributing at a higher level to the planning, drafting, and maintenance of regional inspection plans.
