Opportunity Overview
The Department of Employment and Labour is inviting applications for the position of Senior Practitioner Employee Relation in their Provincial Office in KwaZulu-Natal (Durban). This is a contract opportunity for a period of three years, with two posts available for qualified candidates.
This role offers a competitive annual salary of R413 001, plus an additional 37% in lieu of benefits. Successful candidates will play a crucial role in managing employee relations within the department, contributing to a fair and productive work environment.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Qualification: An undergraduate qualification at NQF level 6 in Human Resources Management, Public Management, or Employee Relations, as recognised by SAQA.
- Experience: Two years of functional experience in an Employment Relations Management environment.
- Advantage: Possession of a valid driver’s license will be considered an advantage.
- Knowledge:
- Public Service Commission’s rules for dealing with complaints and grievances.
- Public Service Coordinating Bargaining Council’s Resolutions.
- Interpretation of case law and trends in Labour Law.
- Public Finance Management Act (PFMA), Public Service Act (PSA), Labour Relations Act (LRA), and Employment Equity Act (EEA).
- PSCBC and CCMA procedures.
- Skills: Negotiation, People Management, Problem Solving, Presentation, Planning and Organising, Communication, Computer Literacy, and Report Writing.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidates will be responsible for:
- Conducting and analysing all grievances and complaints received from employees across the province.
- Drafting charges and finalising all misconduct cases within the department.
- Representing the department in all disputes referred to the General Public Service Sectoral Bargaining Council (GPSSBC) and the Commission for Conciliation, Mediation and Arbitration (CCMA).
