Minimum Requirements

• Education: A three (3) year qualification in Social Science (Psychology, Industrial Psychology), Public Administration, Business Management, or Public Management.
• Experience: Two (2) years of functional experience in a client-orientated environment.
• Licence: A valid driver’s license is required.
• Knowledge: Familiarity with the Employment Service Act, Unemployment Insurance Act, Public Service Act, and Immigration Act.
• Skills: Demonstrated abilities in Planning and Organising, Communication, Computer literacy, Analytical thinking, Presentation, Interpersonal relations, Report Writing, Leadership, Networking, Negotiation, and Marketing.
• Note: Priority will be given to Coloured Males, Indian Males, Indian Females, and White Males for this position.

Key Responsibilities

• Market Public Employment Services (PES) to stakeholders to identify and acquire employment opportunities.
• Conduct recruitment selection processes, referrals, and placement activities for registered work seekers.
• Process requests related to International Cross Border Labour Migration (ICBLM) and provide advice on available skills.
• Handle applications for the registration of Public Employment Agencies (PEA) and Temporary Employment Schemes (TES).
• Supervise the departmental provision of registration and referral services for work seekers.
• Monitor the implementation of Employment Schemes, Labour Activation Programmes (LAP) Projects, and Temporary Relief Schemes.
• Oversee the administration of employer services at the Mashishing Labour Centre.

What the Work Involves

Working at the Labour Centre in Mashishing, you will be instrumental in the day-to-day operations that support both job seekers and employers. Your duties will involve actively engaging with businesses and organisations to find new job openings and then matching these opportunities with suitable, registered work seekers.

Much of your work will involve processing various applications, from international labour migration requests to the registration of employment agencies. You will also be responsible for supervising specific functions within the Labour Centre, such as the registration and referral of individuals seeking employment, and ensuring that various employment schemes and projects are effectively implemented and monitored. The role requires a blend of administrative oversight, direct client interaction, and external stakeholder engagement.
