Opportunity Overview
The Department of Employment and Labour is looking for a dedicated Assistant Director for Human Resources Management & Employee Relations to join its Provincial Office in KwaZulu-Natal, located in Durban. This position offers a valuable opportunity for experienced professionals to play a key role in public service, focusing on the effective implementation of human resource policies and employee relations.
This role is offered on a three-year contract basis and involves crucial responsibilities such as coordinating HR policies, providing advice on employment relations, managing employment equity programmes, and overseeing the administration of resources within the department.
Minimum Requirements
- An undergraduate qualification (NQF Level 6) in Human Resources Management, Public Management, or Employee Relations, as recognised by SAQA.
- A minimum of four (4) years of experience in the field, which must include:
- Two (2) years of functional experience in a human resources management and employee relations environment.
- Two (2) years at a senior practitioner level.
- A valid Driver’s License will be an added advantage.
- Knowledge of:

Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and monitor the implementation of human resources management policies across the province.
- Monitor and provide expert advice on the implementation of Employment Relations policies and prescripts.
- Coordinate and manage the execution of Employment Equity programmes.
- Oversee the administration of service benefits for employees.
- Effectively manage divisional resources, including human capital, finances, and assets.
