Opportunity Overview
The Compensation Fund, operating under the Department of Employment and Labour, is seeking to appoint an Assistant Director for Employer Compliance. This pivotal role is based in Pretoria and is essential for maintaining the integrity and effectiveness of the Fund's operations.
This opportunity involves significant responsibility in coordinating employer audit activities and ensuring adherence to compliance standards. The successful candidate will contribute to the Fund’s mission by supporting provincial COIDA compliance efforts and managing critical resources within their sub-directorate.
Minimum Requirements
- A three-year tertiary qualification (NQF Level 6) as recognised by SAQA in Accounting, Auditing, or Compliance Management.
- 4 years of functional experience in employer assessment, revenue management, financial management, auditing, compliance management, or the health insurance environment.
- Of the above experience, 2 years must have been at a supervisory level.
- A valid driver’s license.
- Key Knowledge areas include: Compensation Fund policies, procedures, and processes; COIDA; Public Service Act (PSR); POPIA; PAIA; BCEA; LRA; GRAP; PFMA; NTR; financial and budgeting management; Fund Governance and Risk Management; risk management and audit practices; Debtors Management; Batho Pele Principles.
- Essential Skills: Technical proficiency, communication (verbal and written), meeting planning and facilitation, analytical thinking, data and records management, computer literacy, problem-solving, decision-making, customer focus, people and performance management, team leadership, planning and organising, project management, and external environmental awareness.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide support for Provincial Office COIDA Compliance.
- Coordinate employer audit activities within the Fund.
- Facilitate the COIDA compliance rate and foster links with relevant units.
- Manage all resources within the Sub-directorate.
What the Work Involves
Based in Pretoria at the Compensation Fund, this role involves a hands-on approach to ensuring employers meet their obligations under the Compensation for Occupational Injuries and Diseases Act (COIDA). You will be instrumental in overseeing and coordinating audit activities, working to identify and address non-compliance, and ensuring the Fund’s financial health. Day-to-day tasks will include supporting provincial offices, collaborating with various internal units to improve compliance rates, and effectively managing the human and material resources of your sub-directorate. This position requires a keen eye for detail, strong organisational skills, and the ability to lead a team in a compliance-focused environment.
