Opportunity Overview

Minimum Requirements

To be considered for this position, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • A three-year tertiary qualification (NQF Level 6) in Public Management/Administration/Auditing/Law/B Com Law/B Com Auditing.
  • A minimum of four years' relevant experience, which must include:
  • Two years of functional experience within a Board and Committees environment.
  • Two years of experience at a supervisory level.
  • Knowledge of:
  • Public Finance Management Act (PFMA)
  • Protocol on Corporate Governance in the Public Sector (PCGPS)
  • Handbook on Appointment of persons/s in Boards of State and State Owned Entities (HAPBSSOE)

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Conducting research on current governance developments and best practices.
  • Facilitating the implementation of corporate governance practices across the Fund.
  • Facilitating the review and approval processes for Charters and Terms of Reference of various committees.
  • Performing quality assurance on quarterly board and committee validation reviews.
  • Facilitating the annual evaluations of the Board and its Committees.
  • Managing all human, financial, equipment, and asset resources within the sub-directorate.

What the Work Involves

As the Assistant Director: Corporate Governance, you will be based in Pretoria, operating within an office environment. Your daily work will involve a combination of strategic oversight and hands-on facilitation. You will spend time researching the latest governance trends to advise on best practices, ensuring the UIF's internal processes align with national and international standards.

A significant part of your role will involve working with the UIF's various boards and committees, facilitating the establishment and regular review of their foundational documents. You'll be instrumental in ensuring the quality of their work through validation reviews and guiding their annual performance evaluations. Beyond governance, you will also be tasked with the management of the sub-directorate's resources, balancing administrative duties with your core governance responsibilities.
