Opportunity Overview
The Department of Employment and Labour, through its Compensation Fund, is seeking an experienced individual for the role of Assistant Director: Conditions of Service. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to the effective management of human resources within a critical government entity.
The successful candidate will play a vital role in coordinating employee benefits, remuneration, and the overall conditions of service for employees within the Fund. Based in Pretoria, this position involves overseeing key HR administrative processes and ensuring compliance with public service legislation. It is suited for a professional with a solid background in HR administration and supervisory experience.
Minimum Requirements
- Undergraduate qualification (NQF Level 6) in Human Resource Management as recognised by SAQA.
- 4 years’ functional experience in a human resource administration environment.
- 2 years’ supervisory experience at Senior Practitioner level or an equivalent level.
- Knowledge of: Human Resource Management methodology, principles and strategy; Digital Acumen/Relevant HRM Systems/Performance Systems; Compensation Fund Objectives and Business Function, including its services; Relevant Fund policies, procedures and processes; Stakeholders and customers; Customer Service (Batho Pele Principles); Risk Awareness.
- Knowledge of Legislative Requirements: Public Service Regulations; Public Service Act; Basic Conditions of Employment Act; POPI Act.
- Skills in: Project Management and Planning; Quality Assurance and Improvement; Data Integrity and Management; Ethics and Governance; Monitoring and Evaluation; Data Gathering, Analysis; Data/Record Management; Research and Benchmarking; Stakeholder Development and Management.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate the implementation of employee benefits, conditions of service, and remuneration of employees in the Fund.
- Coordinate the process of administering the incapacity leave process (Pillar).
- Coordinate the maintenance of the Human Resource Information of the Fund.
- Manage resources.
What the Work Involves
As the Assistant Director, you will be instrumental in the day-to-day coordination of employee benefits, ensuring staff remuneration and conditions of service are accurately implemented within the Compensation Fund. A significant part of your role will involve managing the incapacity leave process, providing crucial support to employees.
You will also be responsible for maintaining the Fund's Human Resource Information systems, ensuring data integrity and effective management of HR resources. This office-based role in Pretoria requires close attention to detail and a strong understanding of HR processes and public service regulations.
