Durban ICC SOC (Ltd) manages the Inkosi Albert Luthuli ICC Complex, a renowned international convention centre in Durban. Voted Africa’s Leading Conference Centre for 21 years, the Durban ICC is a world-class facility.

This opportunity is for a Sales Representative to join their team. The role focuses on generating revenue by securing business for the Durban ICC through proactive sales efforts, managing client enquiries, preparing accurate quotations and contracts, and ensuring excellent customer service throughout the sales process.

Minimum Requirements

  • National Diploma in Marketing, Project Management, Business Administration, or Tourism Management
  • Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in a related field

Key Responsibilities

  • Generate new business by conducting sales calls with key accounts and repeat clients.
  • Develop and maintain a sales pipeline by identifying prospective clients and converting leads.
  • Expedite confirmation of proposals and contracts to close sales.
  • Conduct site tours for potential clients, stakeholders, and government departments to promote the Durban ICC.
  • Arrange meetings with new clients to convert events into confirmed business.
  • Prepare comprehensive proposals, bids, and contractual documents by understanding client needs.
  • Negotiate commercial terms, pricing, and contractual conditions within approved limits.
  • Prepare reports with statistical data on proposals and enquiries.
  • Maintain an updated client database with follow-ups and feedback.
  • Research sales trends in the hospitality industry and develop sales strategies.
  • Contribute to a positive client experience aligned with the organisation's brand.
  • Conduct customer satisfaction engagements before, during, and after events, escalating issues as needed.

What the Work Involves

As a Sales Representative, you will be actively involved in bringing new business to the Durban ICC. This includes reaching out to key and repeat clients, identifying new leads, and guiding them through the sales process from initial enquiry to a signed contract. You will be responsible for showcasing the Durban ICC's facilities through site tours to potential clients and government departments.

A significant part of your role will involve preparing detailed proposals and contracts, requiring a keen eye for detail and strong negotiation skills to agree on pricing and terms. You will also maintain client relationships, track sales data, and research market trends to develop effective sales strategies. You will be expected to work closely with clients, ensuring their satisfaction throughout their engagement with the Centre.
