Opportunity Overview
The Department of Land Reform and Rural Development (DLRRD) is offering entry-level clerical positions for unemployed youth in South Africa. These government roles provide an opportunity to contribute to public service within the Human Resources or Registry functions.
Successful candidates will be placed in either Pretoria, Gauteng, as a Human Resource Clerk or in Nelspruit, Mpumalanga, as a Registry Clerk. Both positions offer a competitive annual salary.
Minimum Requirements
To be considered for these entry-level positions, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Possess a Grade 12 or Senior Certificate.
- No prior work experience is required.
- Demonstrate knowledge of general registry duties and practices.
- Be able to capture data and operate a computer efficiently.
- Have a working understanding of the legislative framework governing the Public Service.
- Be familiar with storage and retrieval procedures relevant to a working environment.
- Possess an understanding of registry work processes.
- Exhibit skills in planning and organisation.
- Be computer literate.
- Have good verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrate strong interpersonal relations.
- Be flexible and able to work effectively as part of a team.
Key Responsibilities
For Human Resource Clerk (Pretoria):
- Assist with selection processes, including advertisements, appointments, transfers, verification of qualifications, and secretariat functions at interviews.
- Implement conditions of service such as leave management, housing, medical aid, injury on duty, long service recognition, overtime, relocation, and pensions.
- Support performance management processes.
- Handle the termination of service procedures.
- Address human resource administration enquiries and respond to queries from both internal and external clients.
For Registry Clerk (Nelspruit):
- Provide registry counter services and attend to clients.
- Handle telephonic and other enquiries received.
- Receive, register, sort, and dispatch incoming and outgoing mail and correspondence.
- Render effective filing and record management services, including opening and closing files according to the record classification system.
- Perform filing, storage, tracing (electronically or manually), and retrieval of documents and files.
- Operate office machines related to the registry function.
- Process documents for archiving and disposal, including electronic scanning of files.
- Sort and package files for archives and distribution, compile lists of documents for archiving, and maintain records for archived documents.
