Opportunity Overview
The Department of Health and Wellness in the Provincial Government is inviting applications for a Chief Porter position. This role is crucial in supporting the efficient operation of health services and ensuring dignified patient care and management within a hospital environment.

Minimum Requirements
To be considered for this opportunity, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Education: A General Education and Training Certificate (GETC) or Grade 9 (Standard 7).
- Experience:
- Appropriate experience in porter services within a hospital environment.
- Supervisory experience.
- Basic experience with a Staff Performance Management System.
- Inherent Requirements: Willingness to work shifts, including weekends and public holidays.
- Competencies (Knowledge/Skills):
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Thorough knowledge of the "Dead on Arrival" protocol, the removal of corpses protocol, and the handling of folders protocol.
- Knowledge of grievance procedures, the code of good practice for dismissal, and the disciplinary code and procedure for the public service.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for the following duties:
- Controlling the utilisation of personnel to ensure patients are transported to treatment centres timeously.
- Facilitating effective communication and the respectful handover of remains to relevant stakeholders, ensuring all are handled with dignity and respect.
- Ensuring that disciplinary procedures are effectively enforced.
- Ensuring personnel collect/clean wheelchairs, trolleys, and collect blood hampers.
- Effectively executing all administrative functions applicable at a supervisory level and providing effective support to the Administrative Officer.
