Opportunity Overview

Correctional Services is offering a 12-month contract opportunity for a dedicated Educationist (M+4) in the Eastern Cape region, specifically at the Burgersdorp Correctional Centre within the Sada Management Area. This role is essential for facilitating and delivering education programmes that contribute to the rehabilitation and successful reintegration of offenders.

The Educationist will specialise in Applied Agriculture & Agricultural Technology and IsiXhosa, providing crucial educational support to learners within the correctional facility. This position offers an annual salary of R375,270, plus 37% in lieu of benefits, for the duration of the contract. The contract concludes on August 3, 2026.

Minimum Requirements

• A recognised four-year Degree or an equivalent qualification in Education, with a specialisation in Applied Agriculture & Agricultural Technology and IsiXhosa.
• Registration with the South African Council of Educators (SACE).
• Computer literacy.
• A valid driver’s licence.

Key Responsibilities

• Facilitate and deliver applied agriculture, agricultural technology, and IsiXhosa education programmes to offenders to support skills development, rehabilitation, and successful reintegration.
• Implement and apply departmental education policies, procedures, and curriculum requirements within correctional facilities.
• Present learning programmes in accordance with approved educational standards and curriculum frameworks.
• Provide learners with theoretical knowledge and practical skills in agriculture and agricultural technology, promoting sustainable practices and vocational competence.
• Assess progress through appropriate evaluation methods, monitor academic performance, and maintain accurate records.
• Ensure compliance with established education and training service standards and contribute to a conducive learning environment for offenders.
