Opportunity Overview

Correctional Services is offering a 12-month contract opportunity for an Artisan Production Grade A: Plumber Area. This role is based at Colesburg Management within the Free State and Northern Cape Region. The successful candidate will be appointed under the Public Service Act.

This position comes with a salary of R253,341 per annum, along with an additional 37% in lieu of benefits. It provides an opportunity to apply specialised plumbing skills within a correctional services environment.

Minimum Requirements

To be considered for this role, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • An appropriate Trade Test Certificate underwritten by the Manpower Training Act (Red Seal).
  • A valid driver’s licence.
  • Demonstrated technical analysis knowledge.
  • Proficiency in computer-aided technical applications.
  • Knowledge of legal compliance relevant to the trade.
  • Ability to perform technical report writing.
  • Strong production and process knowledge and skills.
  • Competence in problem-solving and analysis.
  • Effective decision-making skills.
  • Ability to work well in a team.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Creativity and self-management capabilities.
  • A focus on customer service and responsiveness.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Proficiency in planning and organizing.

Key Responsibilities

The Artisan Production Grade A: Plumber Area will be responsible for a range of duties, including:

  • Training offenders in the applicable plumbing trade.
  • Executing work orders received from clients.
  • Applying quality control measures to manufactured products.
  • Costing products and preparing supply quotes.
  • Performing basic workshop administration tasks.
  • Conducting maintenance services.
  • Managing resources effectively within the workshop.
