The Commission for Conciliation, Mediation and Arbitration (CCMA) in Johannesburg is seeking five dedicated Part-Time Interpreters to join its team. This independent contractor role is vital in ensuring clear communication and fair processes within the CCMA's operations in Gauteng Province.

As a Part-Time Interpreter, you will play a crucial role in assisting CCMA Commissioners and various structures. Your services will directly facilitate successful outcomes during CCMA activities, supporting the core mandate of conciliation, mediation, and arbitration.

Minimum Requirements

To be considered for this opportunity, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Hold a Matric Certificate.
  • Possess a relevant certificate at NQF Level 5 in Communication or Languages.
  • Have one (1) to three (3) years of relevant working experience as an Interpreter.
  • Be proficient in at least three South African languages (Oral, Read, and Write). The languages include Afrikaans, English, IsiZulu, IsiXhosa, Sesotho, Setswana, and Sepedi.

Key Responsibilities

The Part-Time Interpreter will be responsible for:

  • Providing verbal interpretations during hearings.
  • Performing administrative support functions.

As a Part-Time Interpreter with the CCMA, you will primarily be involved in providing real-time verbal interpretation during formal hearings. This requires a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail to ensure all parties understand the proceedings. In addition to interpretation, you will handle administrative tasks that support the overall efficiency of CCMA activities. You will work closely with CCMA Commissioners and other structures, contributing to a fair and accessible environment for all participants. The work is based at the Johannesburg office.
