Opportunity Overview

The City of Johannesburg Metro is offering a permanent career opportunity within its Group Forensic and Investigation Services (GFIS) department. This role is for a Deputy Director focusing on Fraud and Corruption, based in Johannesburg.

The successful candidate will play a critical role in preventing, detecting, investigating, and resolving cases related to fraud and corruption across the city. This position contributes to maintaining integrity and accountability within the municipality.

Minimum Requirements

To be considered for this position, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Matric/Grade 12 certificate
  • A relevant 3-year tertiary qualification (B Degree/BTech) with majors in Finance, Accounting, Audit, Legal, Forensic investigations, Information Technology, or Systems
  • A minimum of 8 years of relevant experience, which must include 2 years of supervisory experience, covering all aspects of the forensic function
  • Knowledge of corporate forensic investigation process controls and identifying system weaknesses
  • Demonstrated success in operating at middle management level, including the management of experienced and professionally qualified staff
  • Ability to integrate investigations with risk management processes
  • Knowledge and understanding of local government legislation and environment
  • Knowledge of data analytics and e-forensics
  • Skill in translating data into accessible reports for diverse audiences
  • Proficiency in presentation and reporting
  • Understanding of the legal implications of policies
  • Knowledge of quality assurance and human resource procedures and regulations

Key Responsibilities

The Deputy Director: Fraud and Corruption will be responsible for:

  • Managing cases and matters related to Fraud and Corruption, Maladministration, and other related cases.
  • Conducting quality corporate investigations into Fraud and Corruption matters and other related cases.
  • Ensuring all cases are investigated properly in line with Standard Operating Procedures, demonstrating a high degree of care, skill, and competence.
