Opportunity Overview

AgriSETA funds a plant-production learnership in the Northern Cape’s Orange River farming region, developing youth for careers in irrigated crop and table-grape production.

This learnership is based in Upington, Northern Cape (Northern Cape) and falls under the AgriSETA — Agriculture, leading to a NQF Level 2 qualification. A monthly stipend is provided: R3 500 – R4 200 / month.

Minimum Requirements

• Minimum qualification: Grade 10
• South African citizen with a valid ID
• Aged 18–35 (youth programme)
• Currently unemployed and not on another funded programme
• Clear criminal record
• Minimum Grade 10
• Willing to work outdoors in farm conditions

Key Responsibilities

During this learnership you will:

• Learning soil preparation, planting and irrigation basics
• Assisting with crop monitoring and pest scouting
• Supporting harvesting and post-harvest handling
• Applying farm health-and-safety and hygiene standards
• Completing NQF 2 plant-production assessments

Stipend & Benefits

Successful candidates receive a monthly stipend of R3 500 – R4 200 / month for the duration of the programme, on-the-job mentorship, and a nationally recognised NQF Level 2 qualification on successful completion.
