Opportunity Overview
The Department of Agriculture is inviting applications for the role of Director: Demand and Acquisition Management. This senior management position is based in Pretoria, Gauteng, within the Office of the Director-General.
This key role offers an all-inclusive annual package of R1,317,384 at Level 13, structured in accordance with Senior Management Services (SMS) rules. The successful candidate will be instrumental in managing crucial supply chain and procurement processes for the department.
Minimum Requirements
- A Grade 12 Certificate is mandatory.
- Possession of a Bachelor’s degree or Advanced Diploma (NQF Level 7) in Financial Management, Public Management, Supply Chain Management, Purchasing Management, or a BCom in Accounting.
- A Certificate for entry into the Senior Management Services (SMS).
- A minimum of five (5) years’ experience at a middle or senior managerial level within the Supply Chain Management field.
- Knowledge of the Supply Chain Management Framework, corporate governance, the Public Service environment, PFMA, and National Treasury Regulations.
- Demonstrated skills in leadership, computer literacy, management, project management, communication (verbal and written), conflict resolution, facilitation, public speaking/presentation, and negotiation.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines.
- A valid driver’s licence.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate the compilation, consolidation, and monitoring of the Demand Management Plan.
- Compile the procurement plan and conduct market analysis for the department.
- Administer all deviations from prescribed acquisition management processes and report these to relevant authorities.
- Manage all acquisition management processes, including the compilation of reports and submissions for stakeholders.
- Oversee procurement processes for infrastructure, goods and services, and IT-related needs.
- Provide secretariat functions for procurement committees, such as the Bid Specification, Bid Evaluation, and Bid Adjudication Committees.
