Opportunity Overview

South African National Parks (SANPARKS) has an opening for a Clerical (Admin) Environmental Monitor at its Cape Regional Office in Cape Town. This is a fixed-term contract position scheduled to end in March 2027.

The role offers a basic salary of R406 per day, in line with Expanded Public Works Programme (EPWP) rates. Preference will be given to unemployed individuals aged between 18 and 35 years, women, persons living with disabilities, and applicants from local communities.

Minimum Requirements

To be considered for this opportunity, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Matric, Grade 12, or NCV level 4 certificate.
  • Minimum of 1 to 2 years of Human Resources and General Office Administration experience.
  • Proficiency in English and at least one other local language.
  • Computer competency in MS Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Teams, and databases (skills will be assessed).
  • A clear criminal record.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Proof of residence within the City of Cape Town Municipality.

The following will be an advantage:

  • A post-secondary school qualification (NQF Level 6) in Human Resources, Office/Business Administration, Public Administration, or a relevant equivalent qualification.
  • A valid Driver’s License.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for a range of administrative and coordination tasks, including:

  • Overseeing all administration related to the implementation of the BSP and other programmes.
  • Receiving and checking documentation for correctness and completeness.
  • Facilitating Human Capital Management and financial administration.
  • Coordinating training and travel logistics.
  • Monitoring projects and producing monthly progress reports.
  • Maintaining a database of all Monitors/Intern projects and their activities.
  • Ensuring compliance with the BSP and SANParks Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for the project.
  • Assisting with training needs and implementation for the programmes.
  • Serving as the communication link between Monitors in the Cape Region, the BSP Office, and Head Office.

What an internship actually is

An internship is a fixed-term work-experience placement for someone who already holds a qualification.
