Opportunity Overview

The South African Civil Aviation Authority (SACAA) is looking for a skilled professional to join their team as a Testing Standards Pilot (Licensing) based in Centurion. This vital role focuses on upholding aviation safety and regulatory compliance within South Africa, contributing directly to SACAA's mandate for safety and security oversight.

The successful candidate will play a key part in maintaining licensing standards for aircrew, overseeing designated examiners, and approving examination centres. This includes developing and implementing Civil Aviation Regulations (CARs) and Civil Aviation Technical Standards (CATS) for various parts of aviation licensing.

Minimum Requirements

• Grade 12 Certificate
• Commercial Pilot License (Helicopter) with a Grade II Flight Instructor rating issued under Part 61, OR a South African Air Force instructor rating
• Flight Instructor rating (Part 61 or 62) OR South African Air Force flight instructor rating
• A minimum of 300 hours of instructor experience

Key Responsibilities

• Manage licensing standards and regulations for all aircrew licenses.
• Oversee Designated Flight Examiners, Radiotelephony Examiners, and Language Proficiency Examiners.
• Approve and oversee examination centres.
• Monitor the conduct of pilot instructors and designated examiners.
• Develop and implement Civil Aviation Regulations (CARs) and Civil Aviation Technical Standards (CATS) for specific regulatory parts (61, 62, 63, 68, 69, 71, 72).
• Conduct audits and inspections to ensure compliance with SACAA procedures.
• Investigate regulatory non-compliances and recommend corrective actions.
• Provide factual reports on audits and inspections conducted at training organisations.
• Facilitate the approval and maintenance of Training and Procedures Manuals.
• Support licensing administration by assessing applications against legal requirements.
• Ensure all documentation, checklists, and procedures comply with regulations.
• Review applications for the accreditation of military experience and conversion of foreign licenses where directed.
