Opportunity Overview

Medtronic is offering a 12-month Finance Internship Programme within its South Africa Business Finance team. This opportunity is designed to provide hands-on exposure to key financial functions in a multinational healthcare environment, including financial planning and analysis, commercial finance, performance management, and financial governance.

As an intern, you will report to the South Africa Finance Business Partner and support recurring finance processes across South Africa, with additional exposure to selected South ACEE (Africa, Central & Eastern Europe) markets. The programme aims to develop your analytical insight and strengthen the quality and efficiency of finance reporting and decision support.

This internship, starting on 1 October 2026, will help you gain practical experience, build confidence in supporting finance activities independently, and develop strong commercial and analytical skills. The work model is hybrid, requiring 3 days per week in the office in Midrand, Johannesburg, with a 40-hour work week.

Minimum Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree completed or nearing completion in Accounting, Finance, Financial Management, Economics, or a related field.
• Fluency in English, with strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel; willingness to learn financial systems and reporting tools.
• Strong numerical and analytical ability, with attention to detail and the ability to work accurately with financial data while meeting deadlines.
• A proactive, learning-oriented mindset with ownership of assigned tasks, and the confidence to work collaboratively across different functions and countries.
• Must be currently unemployed.
• Must be a South African citizen.
• Must be under the age of 30.
• Must not have participated in a YES programme previously.
• Advantageous: Postgraduate study or progress toward a professional accounting qualification.

Key Responsibilities

• Support monthly financial performance reporting, including actuals analysis, variance analysis, and preparation of management information.
• Assist with forecasting, LBE, and annual planning processes, including preparing and maintaining finance templates, data validation, and consolidation of inputs.
• Support recurring Business Finance activities across South Africa and selected South ACEE markets, including preparing financial analyses and other finance deliverables.
• Maintain finance trackers, supporting schedules, and recurring reporting files while identifying opportunities to improve the consistency, accuracy, and efficiency of finance reporting processes.
• Maintain cross-functional relationships and provide support as required; work with Regional FP&A, Controllership, Commercial, Supply Chain, and Finance colleagues across various markets to obtain inputs.
• Support documentation and tracking of agreed finance governance actions, risks, and opportunities while developing an understanding of financial controls and business processes.
