Opportunity Overview
The Industrial Development Corporation (IDC) is offering a permanent position for a Senior Dealmaker specialising in Infrastructure. This role is central to evaluating funding applications and structuring deals that contribute to the IDC's Strategic Business Unit (SBU) objectives and broader industry development goals.
The successful candidate will perform complex financial, technical, and marketing due diligence functions. This involves leading due diligence teams and ensuring effective risk identification and mitigation for various transactions. Minimum Requirements
- A relevant commercial or technical Honours degree.
- 8-10 years of related work experience, with at least 8 years in deal assessment and the closing of transactions (managing approved deals up to first drawdown, including timely conclusion of legal agreements).
- Declared competent in three due diligence disciplines (Marketing, Technical, and Financial) and grounded in all three.
- Experience in leading complex transactions.
- Knowledge in assessing all associated transaction issues, including legal and risk aspects.
- Experience in conducting peer reviews.
- Proficiency in the interpretation and analysis of financial statements.
- Knowledge of the market environment and technology landscape.
- Knowledge of the Infrastructure sector is an added advantage.
- Understanding of various financing instruments.
- Ability to understand and review models of proposed financial structures.
- Competence in coaching and mentoring team members.
Key Responsibilities
- Evaluate and effectively structure transactions using IDC financing instruments.
- Ensure the financial soundness of all credit submissions.
- Conduct comprehensive due diligence, covering financial, technical, and marketing aspects of applications.
- Design and negotiate the financial and legal relationship between the client and IDC for specific deals.
- Identify and mitigate potential risks associated with transactions.
- Lead due diligence teams for high-value and complex transactions.
- Optimise deals to align with SBU strategic objectives and contribute to industry development goals.
- Support the development and implementation of strategies to drive SBU objectives.
- Manage client accounts up to the first draw of funding.
- Prepare well-motivated reports for presentation to Credit and other relevant committees.
- Perform peer reviews across all due diligence disciplines.
- Train, mentor, and coach Business Analysts and Dealmakers.
- Provide advice to Business Analysts and Dealmakers on handling enquiries and applications.
- Proactively originate and develop a pipeline of bankable transactions aligned with SBU strategic objectives, sector priorities, and industry development goals.
- Interact effectively with different SBUs and departments to fulfil process requirements for transactions.
- Manage and enhance service levels and communication to ensure client service excellence.
- Provide team leadership during transaction due diligence processes.
- Manage personal development to enhance competencies.
- Participate in knowledge sharing within the team and across functions.
- Coach and mentor team members.
