The Department of Employment and Labour invites applications for the Deputy Director: Labour Centre Operations position at its Welkom Labour Centre. Minimum Requirements

  • Education: A three (3) year National Diploma (NQF6) or an Undergraduate Bachelor Degree (NQF7) in fields such as Financial Management, Accounting, Human Resource Management, Labour Relations, Social Sciences, Engineering Sciences, Public Administration/Management, Business Administration/Management, Operations Management, Project Management, or a three (3) year legal qualification.
  • Experience: Five (5) years of relevant experience, which must include two (2) years at an Assistant Director Level 12 and three (3) years of functional experience within a labour market operations or service delivery environment.
  • Knowledge: Comprehensive understanding of the Public Finance Management Act, Treasury Regulations, Supply Chain Management processes, Asset Management, all relevant Labour Legislations, Departmental policies and procedures, Public Service Regulations, Batho Pele Principles, and Service Delivery Improvement Plans.
  • Skills: Proven abilities in Management, Computer literacy, Presentation, Communication (both verbal and written), Interpersonal relations, Conflict Management, Leadership, Project Management, Diversity management, Change management, and Monitoring and Evaluation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the service delivery objectives in line with the mandate of the Department of Employment and Labour.
  • Represent the Department in crucial stakeholder forums, including interdepartmental government structures and municipalities, in adherence to the District Development Model (DDM).
  • Implement and manage interventions aimed at improving service delivery.
  • Oversee and manage all resources allocated to the Labour Centre.

What the Work Involves

As a Deputy Director, you will lead the operational management of the Welkom Labour Centre. Your daily work will involve directing the implementation of service delivery objectives, ensuring the centre effectively meets its mandate to the public. You will regularly engage with various stakeholders, representing the Department in interdepartmental government structures and municipal forums to foster collaboration and address labour-related issues. This role also encompasses identifying, developing, and executing strategies to enhance service delivery and meticulously managing all financial, human, and physical resources within the Labour Centre to achieve operational excellence. The working environment is typically within an office setting at the Labour Centre, involving both internal management and external stakeholder engagements.
