Opportunity Overview
The Department of Employment and Labour is looking for a dedicated Assistant Director to join their Human Resource Management & Employee Relations team at the Provincial Office in Kimberley. This is a crucial three-year contract opportunity for a professional ready to contribute to the effective management of human resources within the province.
This role focuses on coordinating and monitoring key HR functions, ensuring compliance with policies, and promoting sound employee relations. It's an excellent chance to apply your expertise in a government setting and make a tangible impact on the provincial operations of the Department.
Minimum Requirements
- An undergraduate qualification at NQF Level 6 in Human Resource Management, Public Management, or Employee Relations as recognised by SAQA.
- Four (4) years of relevant experience, which must include:
- Two (2) years functional experience in a Human Resource Management and Employee Relations environment.
- Two (2) years at a Senior Practitioner level.
- A Driver's Licence will be an added advantage.
- Knowledge of: Public Service Transformation and Management Issues, White Paper on Transformation of the Public Service, Human Resource Systems and Procedures, Public Service Act and Resolutions, Recruitment and Selection, Departmental Policies and Procedures, Batho Pele Principles, Minimum Information Security Standards, PERSAL and other HR Information Management Systems.
- Skills in: Communication (Verbal and Written), Computer Literacy (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, PERSAL, etc.), Innovative/Creative, Presentation, Responsiveness, Report Writing, Time Management, Organising and Planning, Financial Management, Policy Analysis, Problem Solving and Decision Making.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and monitor the implementation of Human Resource Management policies throughout the province.
- Monitor and provide advice on the implementation of Employee Relations policies and prescripts.
- Coordinate and manage the implementation of Employment Equity programmes.
- Monitor the administration of service benefits.
- Manage human, financial, equipment, and asset resources within the Sub-directorate.
What the Work Involves
As an Assistant Director, you will be based at the Provincial Office in Kimberley, engaging in oversight and strategic support for human resource functions. Your day-to-day work will involve ensuring that the Department's HR and employee relations policies are effectively applied across the province, providing guidance, and managing various programmes. This includes monitoring the proper administration of service benefits for employees and coordinating initiatives to achieve employment equity targets. You will also be responsible for managing the resources allocated to your sub-directorate.
