Opportunity Overview

Agriculture is seeking a dedicated Vetting Investigator to join its Directorate: Vetting, Screening and Special Investigation in Pretoria, Gauteng. This role involves conducting critical security vetting fieldwork and investigations to ensure the integrity of information and personnel.

Minimum Requirements

To be considered for this Vetting Investigator position, applicants must meet the following criteria:

Possession of a Grade 12 Certificate.
A Bachelor’s Degree or National Diploma (NQF Level 6) in Security Risk Management, Police Science, or Policing.
A minimum of two (2) years of experience in the field of security vetting.
Must be able to obtain a Top Security Clearance within one year of appointment.
Demonstrated knowledge of security vetting administration and general administration.
Strong communication, facilitation, computer literacy, report writing, presentation, listening, and interpersonal relations skills.
A valid driver’s licence and willingness to travel regularly.

Key Responsibilities

The successful Vetting Investigator will be responsible for a range of duties, including:

Conducting vetting fieldwork investigations.
Gathering relevant information for investigations.
Performing analysis and quality checks on collected information.
Compiling and submitting comprehensive reports to management and the State Security Agency (SSA) on all completed vetting files and reports.
Conducting vetting investigations for confidential and secret security levels.
Providing input for the development and implementation of policies, guidelines, norms, and standards related to vetting investigations.
Analysing, researching, and evaluating all vetting-related information.
Offering advice and guidance on the interpretation and application of relevant legislation, policies, and procedures.
Establishing and maintaining effective communication channels and systems between the Department, the State Security Agency (SSA), and other related agencies.
Liaising regularly with the State Security Agency (SSA), South African Police Service (SAPS), South African Secret Service (SASS), Defence, Department of Home Affairs, and other critical stakeholders to obtain additional information and advice.
Administering vetting files and reports efficiently.
