Opportunity Overview

The Department of Agriculture invites applications for a Senior Supply Chain Practitioner in Demand Management. This is a crucial role based in Pretoria, Gauteng, within the Directorate: Demand and Acquisition Management.

This position involves a comprehensive salary of R413 001 per annum (Level 08), offering an opportunity to contribute to the efficient functioning of the department's procurement processes. Successful candidates will play a key role in managing departmental requests, supplier relationships, and bid committee administration.

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must meet the following criteria:

A National Diploma in Purchasing Management, Supply Chain Management, Public Administration (Management), Logistics, or Business Management (Administration).
A minimum of 2 years’ experience in a Demand Management and Acquisition Management environment.
Knowledge of the Public Finance Management Act, Treasury Regulations, Preferential Procurement Policy Framework Act (PPPFA) and its associated regulations, and departmental SCM procedures and policies.
Demonstrated skills in computer literacy, interpersonal communication, administration, written and verbal communication, supervision, teamwork, and working under pressure.
A valid driver’s license.

Key Responsibilities

The Senior Supply Chain Practitioner will be responsible for:

Administering departmental requests, including sourcing quotations, compiling comparative schedules, and ensuring compliance.
Implementing and maintaining effective systems and procedures for supplier registration and accreditation.
Administering budget and administrative tasks for the bid committee division, such as sourcing proposals from suppliers, managing quotation invitations, updating supplier databases, drafting submissions for the Bid Committee, and preparing comparative schedules according to the preferential procurement policy.
Maintaining an efficient and effective system for the procurement of goods and services, including compiling reports.
Managing the spreadsheet of requests, which involves compiling, updating, and distributing it to clients.
