Opportunity Overview
The Department of Agriculture is seeking a dedicated Senior Supply Chain Practitioner with expertise in Asset Management. This vacancy presents an opportunity for a skilled individual to join the Directorate: Demand and Acquisition Management in Pretoria, Gauteng.
This role is crucial for ensuring the effective management of departmental assets and maintaining compliance with relevant financial regulations. Minimum Requirements
- A Grade 12 Certificate.
- A National Diploma in Logistic Management, Supply Chain Management, or Public Management (NQF Level 6).
- A minimum of 2 years of proven experience in Asset Management.
- In-depth knowledge of Treasury Regulations, the Public Finance Management Act, and the Preferential Procurement Policy Framework Act (PPPFA) and its associated regulations.
- Understanding of Departmental Supply Chain Management (SCM) procedures, policies, and asset management prescripts.
- Strong communication skills (verbal and written), management skills, interpersonal skills, and organising skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team and under pressure.
- Proficiency in LOGIS.
- A valid driver’s license.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure the effective overall management of assets within the Department.
- Conduct training sessions on asset management processes and procedures.
- Provide essential support to client offices regarding asset-related matters.
- Guarantee compliance with the Department’s asset management policies and procedures.
- Maintain and compile the official departmental asset register.
- Oversee the barcoding of assets and accurately capture newly acquired assets according to established standards.
- Properly record and process all movements of assets.
- Manage the retirement of assets from the register due to disposals, thefts, or losses.
- Perform monthly reconciliations between the asset register and BAS.
- Maintain an efficient filing system for all asset management records.
- Conduct annual asset verifications and quarterly spot checks.
- Identify obsolete and redundant assets for disposal as per departmental standards.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual reports for financial reporting.
