The Department of Agriculture is seeking a dedicated ICT System Administrator to join their team in Pretoria. Minimum Requirements
To be considered for this opportunity, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- A Grade 12 Certificate.
- A National Diploma in Information Technology/Computer Science (NQF Level 6).
- A minimum of three (3) years of relevant experience in IT.
- At least one (1) year of the experience must be in a Unix/Linux server environment.
- Job-Related Knowledge:
- Unix/Linux and Windows Server administration and management.
- Active Directory and Group Policy.
- Exchange administration.
- Microsoft 365 and Entra ID administration.

- Provisioning of Unix/Linux and Windows server infrastructure and support.

- Rolling out special projects.
- Investigating and planning software and hardware projects.
What the Work Involves
As an ICT System Administrator, you will be deeply involved in the day-to-day technical operations of the department's IT infrastructure. Your core tasks will revolve around maintaining the stability and performance of both Unix/Linux and Windows server environments. This includes actively administering Active Directory and Microsoft 365 services, as well as providing essential support for server provisioning and troubleshooting any issues that arise.
Beyond daily maintenance, the role requires a forward-thinking approach, where you will research and test new hardware and software, making recommendations to keep the department's technology up-to-date. You will also play a part in various ICT projects, from investigating new software solutions to assisting with project rollouts. This position is based in an office environment in Pretoria, working as part of the ICT Service Delivery and Operations Directorate.
